Peninsula Yucatan Spanish is an organic part of the Spanish-speaking world and at the same time an independent language unit, possessing its own feature set and representing a special linguistic and culturological phenomenon. The article deals with the main questions connected with language variation based on the example of the Mexican national variant of Spanish. In every Latin American country the formation of literary standards of Spanish occurred in different ways. Mexican Spanish is a unique language not only because Mexico is the largest Spanish-speaking country, but also a place where a stable all-Spanish kernel and dialect features caused by the uniqueness of Mexican culture organically coexist. Loans from other languages also “provide” specifics of this concrete language. As the language development is continual, there appear new elements, which, at first, are accepted by one community before becoming standard.
