The distortion of meanings and senses of political and historical events in the different language versions of the Wikipedia articles

The article researches the main negative characteristics of post-informational society (informational overload of human and the drop of quality of message). They have become a reason of the need for a single authoritative and easy for usage and perception source of information, such as Wikipedia. The author reviews positive factors of technical Wikipedia part (the totality of the information, system and structure, the interactive table of contents, the absence of value judgments). They have caused high popularity of Wikipedia among Internet users. The article also briefly considered the protection mechanisms of Wikipedia articles of «information vandalism» and propaganda, such as manual control and technical maintenance. The author shows that some articles about important for Russia and some CIS countries historical events are translated into a negligible number of languages; headlines of multilingual versions of the article about the same event can be radically different; an introduction and texts of articles transmit opposite views, or even tell us about the different objects from different angle. Finally, the article provides practical recommendations on the application of knowledge about these Wikipedia features in the modern political management in conditions of ideological and informational confrontation.
