The article discusses certain facets of the interaction between artificial intelligence (AI) and music education. The authors reveal the most problematic issues related to the effectiveness of music education based on and with the help of AI technologies, the boundaries of application in education, etc. The paper outlines the advantages and risks of using these technologies, including in the development of perception, creativity, musical thinking of the younger generation; the works of modern scientists in the field of musical art and scientific knowledge about it as an integral element of the content of music education are highlighted. Fundamentally important positions regulating the use of AI in the educational process (decentration, controllability) are proposed; a number of functions of the technological phenomenon (auxiliary, cultural, educational, leisure) are stated. The conclusion is made about the need for further search for optimal musical and pedagogical resources to reduce the existing risks; the promising task of updating the theoretical and methodological foundations of music education at all levels in conjunction with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies is set.
