Using authentic materials in Chinese language teaching: how cultural contexts enrich language practice

The article is devoted to the study of the effectiveness of using authentic materials in Chinese language teaching, with special emphasis on their cultural context. The author substantiates the advantage of such materials over traditional teaching aids, as they provide immersion in real language situations and contribute to a better assimilation of cultural peculiarities. The paper presents a systematization of authentic resources by types and levels of difficulty corresponding to HSK levels. The practical part of the study demonstrates a significant improvement in the language skills of students who worked with fragments of the movie “Don't Diverge Until We See You” (“不见不散”). The findings confirm that the cultural context of authentic materials plays a key role in language acquisition. Special attention is paid to the importance of a metered approach to the use of such resources, taking into account the learners' level of proficiency. The author emphasizes the effectiveness of practical tasks including role-playing and scene analysis for the development of intercultural skills. The author concludes with specific methodological recommendations on how to integrate authentic materials into the teaching process.
