Gadget usage in preschool childhood: risks of digital dementia

It's common knowledge that excessive usage of electronic devices is able to cause developmental disorders in children's cognitive abilities, however, application problem of information technologies as a teaching tool is poorly studied. Parents attribute the negative impact of using gadgets on children's bodies to excessive consumption of entertainment content (cartoons, computer games, etc.), while the preferred content for preschoolers is developing content (educational games, videos). At the same time, most parents do not know how to use gadgets usefully in practice, which creates a contradiction between the desired and actual purpose of digital technologies. In order to prevent problems in the development of preschoolers and reduce the risk of information overload of children, it is necessary to improve the digital competence of parents, as well as to develop detailed recommendations for the interaction of preschoolers with digital technologies, taking into account the age characteristics.
