The paper considers the experience of teaching students the natural discipline of chemistry in a distance format. The decrease in the role of practice and its experimental component in the educational process with a remote form of education, the lack of the possibility of consolidating theoretical knowledge by experiment, which increases the assimilation of the material and the interest of students, is shown. It is concluded that distance learning of chemistry, having a number of fundamental differences, can be considered only as an additional form to the traditional full-time format.
