Medicinal preparations based on medicinal plant raw materials containing active substances that cause a wide range of biological activity are widely used in medical practice. Milk thistle has been used since ancient times as a medicine for various liver diseases. The development of effective, safe and affordable hepatoprotective phytopreparations seems relevant and promising both in scientific and practical terms. The article presents information on the study of the hepatoprotective effect of compositions based on milk thistle meal in modeling subacute hepatitis in laboratory rats. As a result of the research, it was found that the composition "Milk Thistle + selenopyran" showed the best protective effect in toxic liver damage with carbon tetrachloride, which consists in maintaining the viability of the maximum number of liver cells and their function. The effect of the additives is based on the antioxidant properties of selenopyran and milk thistle flavonoids, which provide a membrane-protective effect.
