The 21st century is the era of the internationalization of a high-tech economy. In order to cope with the challenges of globalization, specialists trained in scientific and technical universities must have extensive opportunities for using foreign languages, especially developing scientific and technological translation capabilities. The scaffolding teaching method is a relatively new teaching method based on constructivist theory. This article describes the study of the principles and methods of applying the scaffolding training method in the process of preparing the scientific and technical translation competencies of students of technical universities, in order to obtain the best effect in teaching and to strengthen the students' ability to translate scientific and technical texts. A model of a three-stage implementation of the scaffolding method for three levels of translation has been developed. The measures for the implementation of the stages are proposed (on the example of the first stage). The performance of the model is assessed based on the results of the exam.
