That is why the study of sub-standard vocabulary today is of particular relevance, being one of the components of the formation of a linguistic picture of the world. The main content of the study is a comparative analysis of the names of female and male persons in the sub-standard of the English and Russian languages. The article describes the frequently used types of metaphorical transfer of the nominations "man" / "woman" in the substandard vocabulary of the compared languages. The author studied the dictionaries of the English language "NTC's Thematic Dictionary of American Slang" and the Russian language "Russian Fenya". The choice of dictionaries is justified by the fact that these dictionaries contain colloquial vocabulary, which is often used in the speech of native speakers. Based on the analysis of the names of female and male persons selected from these dictionaries, the author made conclusions on the topic under study.
