A Study of the Heterogeneity of Urban Development in the Urals

Presents an analysis of municipal heterogeneity as one of the fundamental factors influencing the sustainable development of regions. The authors have studied the main socioeconomic indicators of the largest cities — administrative centers of the subjects of the Ural Federal District. The article identifies the causes and trends of increasing inter-municipal inequality, special attention is paid to assessing the consequences of such heterogeneity for regional development. The results of the study can be used in formation of regional development strategies and making managerial decisions at the municipal level.
