The article describes the state of the problem of harvesting flax with different lengths of stems and the degree of their lodging. Therefore, each case requires a different approach to the selection of operating modes and setting up harvesting machines. In addition, knowledge of the indicators of the quality of top-lifting apparatus in such conditions allows to choose the right direction for their improvement and operation, in order to improve them and increase productivity. Thepossibility of more effective cleaning of such flax by equipping flax machines with elongated or vibration dividers is shown. Mathematical models of dependences of the purity of pulling, loss of seeds and stretching of the tape on the degree of flax lodging during the movement of the unit at speeds of 1.3-2.5 m/s, adequate to the experimental data, are presented. On erect flax the performance of the device satisfies the agrotechnical demands, and its use effectively. During the lodging of flax less than 3 points, the purity of twitching, seed loss and stretch-toast tape the stems during the harvest apparatus with a cross streams s is much worse, especially when of trampled stalks in 1 - 2 points. It is shown that the decrease in the quality indicators of the harvesting machine is explained by the deterioration of the supply of stems to the teasing hands and dragging them into the clamp between the discs and the belt, due to lodging and tangling of the stems, which makes its use in harvesting impractical.
