The article studies physical property of grain flowability at free or natural grain flow when pouring through a small hole onto a flat horizontal plane, as well as when grain is in cramped conditions. The study classifies grains into 5 classes according to their flowability depending on their natural slope of repose. It also determines limiting values of slope of repose of basic grains at humidity of 14-16 % and with free flow on the designed device. The research detects penetration of grain into the partition space when grain was cramped into the designed device. It figures out that with increasing distance between the partitions, depth of grain penetration increases regardless of the partition grade of slope. Optimal values of partition grade of slope are within 20º, at which the penetration of grain between partitions is minimal. So, to solve various problems of grain aeration, it is possible to select the optimal values of partitions grade of slope and distances between them, at which grain does not flow into partitions internal cavity, connected to air supply channel. Based on the results of this experiment, the Department of Technological Systems of the Agro-Industrial Complex (Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Arctic State Technical University) developed a technical solution for universal core type aerator, which was recognized as an invention (Patent N 2777902). Preliminary tests of the aerator showed its versatility and cost-effectiveness.
