Research of size of losses of carrot and red beet taproots at different storage temperatures depending on method of preliminary treatment

The article presents the results of studying the influence of treatment with extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields and microbial pesticides Vitaplan and Bactofit of carrot taproots of the Canberra cultivar and red beet taproots of the Vodan cultivar on losses due to natural weight loss and microbiological spoilage during storage. The objects of research were stored for 21 days at a temperature of +25±1 °C and 56 days at a temperature of +2±1 °C. As a result of the studies, it was found that treatment with ELF EMF and/or microbial pesticides allows reducing the loss of root crops of these varieties compared to control. In particular, it was found that the combined treatment with ELF EMF and microbial pesticide reduces the total loss during storage of carrot taproots by 6.0% at a temperature of +2±1 °C and 13.7 % at a temperature of +25±1 °C, and during storage of red beet taproots by 4.2 % at a temperature of +2±1 °C and 6.7 % at a temperature of +25±1 °C.
