The article deals with the specifics of the phenomenon of historical memory as the most important regulator of culture. It reveals certain features of the consolidation and functioning of this phenomenon, and also reveals problematic aspects of its constitution. It is concluded that historical memory is a set of narratives reflecting the value component in the form of traditions, rituals, historical and cultural heritage of peoples.
