Historical aspects of the formation of professional vocal music in Vietnam

This article examines the history of the formation of Vietnamese professional vocal music and the beginning of the development of instrumental jazz music in connection with vocal performance. Aspects of the classification of vocal genres and forms of performance are also revealed. The main objective of the work is to analyze the historical context of the formation of professional vocal culture in Vietnam in the 20th century. Professional academic, choral and mass pop music appeared in Vietnam in the 20th century during periods of significant historical events - colonial conquest, revolutions, wars and reformations. The article provides an overview of the historical conditions for the formation of the three main types of vocal music. Only folk singing and traditional songwriting are not touched upon in detail. The article will be useful to anyone studying the vocal music of Vietnam. Also, the materials of this work can be used in training courses at cultural universities on the musical art of Asian peoples.
