The historical aspect of the evolution of forensic methods of crime investigation in Russia

The article deals with the historical aspect of the evolution of forensic methods of crime investigation in Russia. The historical stages of the formation of the forensic investigation methodology from the origin of proto-forensic knowledge in ancient Russia to the emergence of modern trends in the methodology of crime investigation are highlighted. Special attention is paid to the situational approach in criminal investigation, its practical significance at present is stated.
