History of the German library collections moved to the territory of the USSR after the end of World War II

The article provides data on the destruction of the book collections of libraries of the USSR as a result of Hitler's aggression. The issues related to the problems of German library collections relocated to the territory of the USSR after the end of the Great Patriotic War are considered. The activities of various organizations dealing with the selection of German books and their transfer to the territory of our country are considered. The main targets for moving the book collections of German libraries are outlined. The process of using books received from Germany is analyzed from the point of view of partial compensation for the country's book losses.
