The paper deals with the historiosophical views of two thinkers of the conservative trend of the 19th century – F.I. Tyutchev and K.N. Leontiev. The intellectual heritage of these authors is becoming relevant in the context of the aspect of understanding Russia as a state-civilization at the present stage. The aim of the study is to compare the philosophical and ideological ideas of two talented individuals, acting as a “reflection and experience” of the historical events of their era. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that in a comparative context, the general attitudes of the thinkers on the close connection of Russia with Byzantium, the resolution of the issue of Russia’s role in the fate of the Slavic peoples are determined. As a result of the comparative analysis, it was established that K.N. Leontiev and F.I. Tyutchev were convinced that the possible unification of the Slavs is not a political or tribal union, but, above all, a spiritual one. The article shows that in assessing the relations between Russia and Europe, there is a convergence of the ideological positions of thinkers, defining European revolutions as a force that brings destruction to spiritual and national values.
