Since ancient times community needed language intermediators who could eliminate linguistic and ethnic obstacles while establishing international relations with the countries of old East. Interpreters were required by the national power centres, church, trade and especially for the army during the period of wars. Translation experience has been brought to Russia by the enlighters Cyril and Methodius, who introduced the written language to Slavonic people. The quality and accuracy of translation are improving permanently. In the first place today are neither the literal translation of ancient times nor “free” translation of the Middle Ages, the leading principle is to create a text fully equivalent to the corresponding original in a foreign language.
