The study is devoted to the history of the activities of the Central (All- Union) courses for the training of pioneer workers, which operated in Moscow in the mid-1920s – early 1930s. The work is based on documents from Moscow and central archives (Russian State Archive of Social and Political History, Central Archive of the City of Moscow), and also includes publications on the topic in the pioneer and camp counselor press of the 1920s, and reference literature. A brief historiography of the issue is given. Whenever possible, the dates of the work in Moscow of nine convocations of the Central (All-Union) courses for the training of pioneer workers in 1924– 1932 are established. Attention is paid to the criteria for recruiting cadets, the focus of the courses (urban, rural, national), the programs and organization of training, some aspects of the daily life of students and cultural work with them. Where possible, the subsequent career path, pedagogical and pioneer activities of the course graduates are covered. Information is collected on the buildings and premises in which the Central (All-Union) courses for training pioneer workers were held. The material is of significant historical, pedagogical and local history interest.
