Episodes from the history of special schools for children with disabilities in Soviet Russia (1941–1945)

Based on archival documents and materials from individual regions of the Soviet Russia (RSFSR), the article shows the state of special educational institutions for children with developmental disabilities by June 1941, examples of daily school life in evacuation and in the rear areas during the Great Patriotic War, and data on the restoration of the school network. Special attention is paid to the actions of the state to support these educational institutions and solve systemic problems of their functioning.
