From unpublished letters of A. K. Tolstoy to B. M. Markevich

Four letters of A.K.Tolstoy of 1867-1872 to his friend, the writer and the publicist B.M.Markevich are published for the first time in this article translated from French. Questions connected with the story of creation of writer’s works, their public assement are raised in the letters; at the same time they allow to specify many facts of Tolstoy and Markevich’s biography, character of their relations, their original perception of public life in Russia and Europe.
