From the experience of constructing tests in mathematics

The paper analyzes the advantages and application features of the test system of knowledge evaluation. The arguments of the opponents of test technologies are discussed. According to the authors, one should not argue against the tests in general, but only against bad tests. The main stages of constructing tests are considered. Recommendations are given how to construct effective tests. These recommendations concern: the quantitative characteristics of the test (size of the test base, the number of tasks and time for performing); typology of tests; nature of tasks (tasks have to be sophisticated, but technically simple, focused on logic rather than memorization). It is highly desirable that on completion the test a student can view the log with a list of errors made. Particular attention should be paid to the expertise (including statistical) test tasks.
