The paper analyzes the concept of the electoral system. The author analyzes the mathematical and legal understanding of the category. It is proposed to use a new category to designate the electoral system in a legal sense. Next, the author examines the components of the electoral system that determine its varieties. In conclusion, it is proposed to change the legal definition of the category, reflecting the essence of the electoral system as an election measure.
