The selectivity of fertilization and competitive ability of pollen of self-pollinated sunflower lines

The estimation of the self-pollinated lines VK-678, Vk-276, Vk-680, Vk-653, Vk-551, Vk-580 and VK-585 was made according to selectivity of fertilization by its own pollen in conditions of free pollination in the field of genetically diverse breeding material and the self-fertilization. The line VK-680 was chosen by these factors, showing a high selectivity of fertilization allied with good self-fertilization. During pollination by its own pollen and allogenic pollen this line undergoes a considerably smaller genetic impurity in comparison with the line VK-678. The advantage of the line VK-680 in the maintenance of the genetic purity during the free pollination in conditions of space isolation on the stage of industrial seed-production was proved.
