Study of malate-aspartate shuttle system enzymes in wheat genotypes

One of the important problems of agriculture is the decrease in the soft wheat varieties performance of grown in the territory of Azerbaijan, under water scarcity conditions caused by climate change. In this regard, drought, which is one of the abiotic stress factors that can directly or indirectly affect plant metabolism, remains an active discussion topic in research conducted in this area in recent decades. The enzyme activity of the malate-aspartate shuttle system was studied in wheat plants grown under conditions of water deficit. The activity of the enzyme’s aspartate aminotransferase and NAD malate dehydrogenase was found to be higher in drought-tolerant genotypes.
