Study and Influence of N.A. Berdyaev’s Philosophical Ideas in China

The article presents a systematic study of the dissemination process, current state of research, and scholarly influence of the ideas of Russian religious philosopher N.A. Berdyaev in China. Berdyaev’s ideas hold particular theoretical value and practical significance in contemporary Chinese academic discourse. The study iden-tifies four main stages in the reception of Berdyaev’s thought in Chinese scholarship: fragmentary acquaintance, a period of stagnation, a revival of interest, and a phase of systematic translation and analysis. Central attention is given to the influence of the Russian thinker’s key concepts, including his original ontology with the thesis of the primacy of freedom over being, his critique of the technological alienation of modern man, and his synthesis of Christian eschatology with existential philosophy. The history of the reception of Berdyaev’s philosophy in China represents not only an example of intercultural intellectual exchange but also an important case for understanding the role of philosophical thought in local modernization processes under globalization. This research contributes to the deepening of Russian-Chinese philosophical dialogue and provides a valuable example of the mechanisms of transmission and adaptation of Western philosophical concepts in a non-Western cultural context.
