The study of irrational beliefs among students of medical university

Background: the period of study at a higher educational institution is an extremely important stage in the formation of a professional’s personality, not only because it is associated with the accumulation of professional knowledge and skills, but also because of the formation of his worldview, the system of attitude to professional duties, to the subjects of labor activity and to life in General. Aims: theoretical substantiation and empirical study of irrational beliefs among students of medical University Materials and methods: the article presents data from the empirical study “Diagnostics of the presence and severity of irrational attitudes” by A. Ellis. The study was conducted in 2020, during which 70 first-year students of the South Ural state medical University were interviewed. Results: the article presents the results of a comparative study of irrational beliefs that affect the perception of situational conditions as stressful in medical University students and emergency medical personnel. Conclusion: There is a similarity in the dominance of attitudes related to the groups “ought-to-oneself” and “catastrophization”. However, these irrational beliefs are significantly more pronounced in students.
