Studying of small prose of Russian modernism in the senior classes (on the example of the works of Isaac Babel)

The article analyzes the features of studying the prose of Russian modernism in senior school. The importance of orientation to the expansion of philological knowledge of senior school pupils, the formation of a holistic view of the literature of modernism as a component of world art, the ability to analyze and interpret the artistic phenomena of the modern era in the historical and cultural context was emphasized. Using the example of the study of Isaac Babel’s prose, the key patterns of work with modern literature in senior school are shown. The place of creativity of Isaak Babel in the school course of literature is clarified, attention is focused on the most important moments in the teaching of the writer's works. The profound humanistic pathos of Isaac Babel’s prose, which is an essential expected component of the reader's reception of senior school pupils, was analyzed, key semantic complexes of the writer's works important for pupils’ understanding were analyzed. The methodological recommendations to the organization of the study of the creativity of Isaac Babel in the school are formulated.
