Studying the attitude of students of the faculty of international relations of MGIMO to the subjects of the psychological and pedagogical cycle for developing professional communication of a future diplomat

In this article, the author examines the attitude of future diplomats to mastering deep psychological and pedagogical knowledge for future professional activities. The analysis of students' answers to the questions of the proposed questionnaire showed that most of the students are aware of the importance of this knowledge. Since the job of a career diplomat requires not only the knowledge of his subject of activity (foreign language, international relations and foreign policy of Russia, national and world history), but also deep psychological knowledge to relieve tension between partners, to be able to accept the position of “the Other” and defend the position of his country . In such a way the introduction of a special course on mastering professional communication will teach the future diplomat the ability to correct and create individual methods of business and interpersonal communication, the ability to perceive and understand both their mental states and the encrypted codes of the mental states of another person, the ability to analyze communication mistakes and show their readiness for self-exploration, self-improvement, changing their professional and personal qualities. These tasks are solved by means of role-playing games, group discussions, and analyzing specific pedagogical situations. Workshop and practical classes create conditions for a creative activity; form a positive motivation for future teaching activities. In addition, these classes can positively affect the development of the communication skills of future diplomats. Through the emotional sphere, a person carries out and experiences various emotional contacts helping to gain experience of interpersonal relationships of various depths, increase the level of personality sensitivity. Thus, such an organization of collective work can facilitate the process of self-exploration and introspection, the development of the desire to change professional and personal qualities for the better, activates the increase in communicative competence.
