Study of university students’ adaptation

The article studies the process of students’ adaptation to learning in Ulan-Ude Institute of Railway Transport. We have analyzed the expectations of first-year students concerning the learning process in the institute, as well as the level of their awareness of future professional activity. The work reveals the difficulties of students' adaptation to social environment, educational and professional activities, analyzes the dynamics of adaptation indicators during the first academic year. It is found positive correlation between adaptation to social environment and extroversion of personality; at the same time there is a strong correlation between adaptation to educational activity and aggressiveness. The findings of the study can help to develop complex programs of pedagogical and psychological support of students' adaptation to learning at high educational establishment.
