Studyimg nitric oxide production by platelets of patients having metabolic syndrome

The study was performed in 26 patients having metabolic syndrome and in 10 control subjects. The platelet was isolated from peripheral venous blood. Basal and adrenalin-induced production of nitric oxide was measured using spectrophotometry method which was followed by the oxidation of oxihemoglobin to methemoglobin by the nitric oxide. The study results demonstrated that basal and adrenalin-induced nitric oxide production in platelet of patients with metabolic syndrome was reduced compared with control subjects. Our results suggest that adrenalin increased nitric oxide production of platelets in patients having metabolic syndrome.
