The article presents the results of studying the variability of the basic agrochemical parameters of soddy-podzolic light loamy soil on the experimental field of ‘Plemzavod Maiskii’ agroindustrial complex, Vologda region, and their connection with the yielding capacity of spring barley. It has been shown that it is the most reasonable to use nitrogen and potassium fertilizers taking soil heterogeneity into consideration. It is advisable to differentiate the doses of nitrogen fertilizers according to plant diagnosis data. Applying phosphorus fertilizers is not advisable due to high phosphorus content in the soil of the experimental field.
