The article deals with the participation of academician Mikhail N. Tikhomirov in the opening of restored Far Eastern National University in October 1956, his contribution to the stocking of FENU library funds. The authors reveal significant pages of the university history basing on public and private documents, periodical press materials, many of which are introduced to the readers for the first time.
