“You and me” of the Russian houshold romance: speech genre and statistical aspects

The article reveals that the frequency of using specific words may be an important speech genre feature of household romance. As a tool for creating a frequency glossary of household romance texts, the software that allowed to make a part of speech tagging, provide the basic form of high-frequency words, arrange the lemmas according to the frequency of occurrence was used. The list of 25 most frequent lemmas is presented; the frequencies of these words in the texts of household romance are also provided. The research determines that addressing and imperative appeal to the object of feelings are the essential genre features of romance forming its dialogic nature. This thesis is proved by variability of grammatical representation of characters in the texts related to the genre of household romance: I (WE) ↔ YOU; I ↔ HE/SHE; I ↔ non-personal pronounal object; non-personal pronounal subject ↔ YOU. The research results can be of use to solve an important problem of determining romance as a genre and its genre features.
