Statement of the problem. In modern Russian speech, there is a tendency towards excessive use of English vocabulary in various spheres of life: politics, economics, media, literature, and science. In the historical context, borrowings are an integral part of the natural process of language development and functioning, but today there are a number of specific features that are caused by current sociopolitical processes and world globalization. Most of the newest foreign language lexemes have not yet been codified in the Russian language, along with their active functioning in it. The purpose of the article is to identify possible patterns of the use of Anglicisms in the modern Russian language, to establish the degree of agnonymy in the Russian language consciousness. Materials and methods. The anglicisms of the everyday level in modern Russian-language communication are considered as language material. The article engages general scientific research methods - descriptive and comparative ones, as well as empirical methods - survey, questionnaire. The total number of 135 people took part in the study. The experiment was carried out through an Internet survey, where recipients indicated the values of the borrowed tokens known to them. As a result, we have found that the use of uncodified Anglicisms at the household level is not always justified, since they have wide synonymous series in the Russian language; and the semantics of such borrowings is variable and diffuse. Through a sociolinguistic experiment (questionnaire), it is possible to establish the general degree of agnonymy of borrowed lexemes among various age groups, as well as a group of informants who fluently communicate in English.
