Language shift and modern language situation at the new Barguts of China

This article discusses the factors and conditions of language shift in China's new Barguts representing breakaway once part Hori Buryat. Forwarding materials from 2002-2004 the results of our expeditions for two new barguts hoshun, including interviews with informants of different ages and social status, as well as our own observations confirm this hypothesis. At the moment, the new language Barguts is a complicated stage of development: native dialect Hori forgotten representatives of average young age, only representatives of the elderly remember eating spirant «h», characteristic hori dialect and the Buryat language as a whole. In addition, in connection with the relocation of the Khalkha in China have occurred Barguts new language shift in favor of the language, which we call a pan-Mongol dialect of China. At the present stage there is a trend of slow and loss of language in favor of a more prestigious Chinese.
