Language shift in Berber communities of Morocco

This article is devoted to the phenomenon of language shift in Berber communities of Morocco. This work explores historical, political, and socio-economic factors that have an impact on the process mentioned in this article. It should be noted that a considerable amount of scientific works in Western languages is devoted to Berber languages and related issues while the amount of the researches related to this topic in Russia is quite low. Analysis of the available literature allowed us to come to the following conclusion: language shift in Berber communities is a long process that results as from historical factors as current tendencies in the development of Moroccan society. It is important to note that changes in Moroccan language policy towards Berber languages necessitate further actualization of the information related to this issue.
