The effectiveness of the implementation of aesthetic potential of infographics to increase media competence of the media audience

Arguing about the media-aesthetic component in the organization of training, the author considers such a branch of modern science about mass media and mass media as media education. The concept of "media aesthetics" is introduced. The phenomenon of "visual turning" in modern media is covered. Infographic is studied as a promising tool for "packaging" of mass information, which has a media-aesthetic potential. The main attention is paid to the media-aesthetic potential of infographic messages in the mass media. Based on the analysis of publications on the pages of the «Argumenty i Fakty» newspaper website containing infographic materials, the effectiveness of realizing this potential in relation to raising the level of media competence of the domestic media audience is assessed. Practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of using its results in the activity of media educators and teachers of journalistic disciplines of Russian universities, as well as journalists and designers who create infographic for modern Russian print and Internet media.
