Environmental Challenge for Russia

The article examines the problems of Russia's trend and counter-trend policies within the framework of the green agenda adopted today in Europe, North America, and potentially worldwide. The possibilities, advantages, and disadvantages of these strategies are analyzed. A major challenge, the desire to reduce the carbon footprint of economic activity, puts the country before a difficult choice: to play along with the global trend, becoming a green economy, or against it, hoping for unreliability of forecasts on the timing and scale of the energy transition. In this context, the topic of creating a positive image of Russia in the international arena is also analyzed, in the event of the adoption and actualization of the green agenda. An interpretation of the "green agenda" in Russia's understanding is given. The mechanisms of advertising and PR promotion of the country with the help of the green agenda are also considered.
