Environmental and economic approaches to assessing the tourism and recreational potential for the sustainable development of underdeveloped areas (The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

The article discusses environmental-economic approaches to the assessment of tour-ism and recreational potential on the basis of both natural and economic indicators. The authors chose a sparsely populated natural region, the Sakha Republic, as the most promising for the sustainable development of tourism. Having identified in particular tourist and recreational re-sources in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), a structure of tourist and recreational potential for sus-tainable development is developed, and the level of realization of the investment climate of the tourist area is identified. The assessment of sustainable tourism resources by tourism resource blocks is based on the developed formula.
