Economic and mathematical forecasting of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the passenger turnover of road transport in the Republic of Buryatia

The article presents the results from the analysis of the rate of COVID-19 cases in the Republic of Buryatia, mortality from this disease and passenger traffic in road transport for the period from March 2020 through July 2022. We emphasize that the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) had a negative impact on the entire national economy. The mobility sector suffered the most from it, including the regional transport industry. In Buryatia, more than 90% of passenger traffic is presented by road transport. In order to predict the further development of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the level of road passenger traffic, we have carried out the extrapolation using linear regression. Development forecasts made using linear regression and spline extrapolation methods are quite positive.
