The paper is devoted to an infrared thermography study of heat generation in titanium alloy ВТ6 under cyclic loading. Two series of experiments on smooth specimens and on specimens with preliminary grown fatigue crack are carried out. Spatial and time temperature evolution into crack tip is investigated, the form and intensity of intensive heat dissipation zone is defined. Based on a result of comparative analysis of the experimental data and the linear fracture mechanics equations it is shown that the spatial form and character of heat dissipation zone into crack tip doesnt correspond to the simple theoretical models.
