Experimental substantiation of the possibility of using low energy acoustic shock waves in the therapy of various urological diseases mediates a physiotherapeutic effect by stimulating blood flow and metabolic processes in the organ, which is advantageous for treating chronic urological diseases. The positive effect of LIPU has been proven in treating chronic prostatitis/pelvic pain and Peyronie's disease. This experimental study focuses on the effect of LIPU on the course on other urological diseases. Materials and methods. The experiments were conducted on 43 white outbred rats and 30 rabbits. In order to choose the optimal mode of LIPU, we studied the effect of shock wave therapy of various intensities on the kidney. We also studied the effect of LIPU with the selected parameters on the intensity of histological signs of kidney damage in the conditions of hydro-nephrotic kidney transforming, and also acute and chronic pyelonephritis. Results. Low intensity shock wave treatment (defocused shock waves with the pressure amplitude less than 100 atm, impulse length up to 4 microseconds, 500 impulses) mediates a therapeutic action due to the intensification of organ microcirculation, stimulation of aerobic oxidative processes, which are essential for the energy supply of adaptive processes. At the same time, a more powerful mode induces a severe kidney damage up to the formation of necrotic foci. The application of LIPU in a selected mode promotes the decrease of the severity of nephrohydrosis in the conditions of hydro-nephrotic kidney transforming and inflammatory damage of kidney tissues during acute and chronic pyelonephritis, which is accompanied by a proper maintenance of nephron structures.
