This article explores the perception of translation as a significant state of things for its recipient. To achieve this, a historical analysis of methods for gathering information on the translation recipient has been conducted. In addition, various modern sources of information have been explored, including traditional and online resources that translators can use to obtain information about their recipients. The study identifies effective methods for evaluating translations after collecting information on the recipient. The study also demonstrates how knowledge of the recipient’s language preferences serves as a ground for translation’s usefulness, quality, and fidelity. This article provides useful advice to translators who are seeking to achieve high quality translation and meet the needs of their recipients.
