Under the action of the movers of agricultural machinery during field work, soil compaction occurs, its agrophysical properties are violated. This leads to significant crop losses. In addition, the traction characteristics of tractors during periods of high soil moisture are reduced. As a result, the traction efficiency of the tractor decreases, and the amount of fuel consumed increases. One solution to these problems is the use of dual tires. Operational tests were performed to assess the traction and energy performance of tractors T-150K (third traction class) and MTZ-80 (traction class 1.4) with serial tires and with dual. Studies were carried out on different soil zones. It is revealed that when the tires are doubled, the tractor T-150K has an increase in traction efficiency at high traction forces up to 13.9 % and decreases the specific fuel consumption by 2.5...6.5 %. When doubling the tires of the MTZ - 80 tractor, the conditional traction efficiency increases to 29.8 %, and the specific fuel consumption decreases by 11.6...14.2 %. According to the obtained experimental data, the graphs characterizing the traction characteristics of the test tractors T-150K and MTZ-80 with single and double tires are constructed.
