Extreme natural phenomena throughout the Middle Ages were objects of constant attention and thorough recording on the part of chroniclers. The study attempts not only to identify a maximum possible number of extreme natural phenomena in a specific geographical region of Eastern Europe (namely, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania) and classify them as the message flows (circles of events), but also to show the attitude of contemporary chroniclers to them in terms of religious picture of the world that formed spiritual life of the medieval society and its most important constituents such as knowledge of religious texts and ability to operate with information drawn from them.
