The article is devoted to the identification and analysis of intertextual connections of poem by A. Vvedensky “Elegy”, but the format of a brief article only allowed to pay attention to the semantics of the title and epigraph. We identified seven layers of intertextual work, which updated in text and influenced to the poetʼs choice of title and epigraph. So, the title refers to the poetry of the 18 and 19 th centuries, but at the same time appears as an “object”, as it was understood by OBERIU group. The epigraph also refers to a large number of pretext from “Slovo o polku Igoreve” and “Pouchenie Vladimira Monomakha” to works by A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, I. Bakhterev and scientific works by O. Freudenberg. The image of “death wagon” also has a theatrical, musical and pictorial sources. Working with such different, but united the theme of death, a pretext, Vvedensky creates a work written as if from the “world of the dead”. Any reality and the idea of the poem equalized with another, potentially “deathful”, border, and serves as a means of communication and/or termination of the connection between the two worlds.
