The electoral culture of Russian society in the context of the 2021 parliamentary elections

The features of the electoral culture of Russian society are examined based on the analysis of sociological data, indicators of the turnout and distribution of party voting in the elections to the State Duma held in September 2021. The reference to the concept of “electoral culture” is explained by a systematic approach to the study of electoral processes taking place in the country, as well as by the desire to reveal that Russian voters have a set of stable political orientations, which may determine the certain models of electoral behaviour. The author shows that the motives of the electoral actions of Russian citizens are gradually being rationalized. Particular attention is paid to the regional heterogeneity of the electoral culture of Russian society, which occurs due to both the cultural differences of specific constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and the regional refraction of the country's socio-political and socio-economic problems.
