Electronic criminal case at the pre-trial stages of the criminal process in Russia

The research substantiates the need to legislate the possible verification of crime reports and preliminary investigation by electronic recording and document management. The paper analyzes the attitudes and opinions of Russian and international proceduralists. The author defines the electronic criminal case. The research examines the rules of criminal procedure law and presents e-recording practices in the legal context. The author concludes that it is necessary to develop, unify and enshrine in law the rules of investigation and legal proceedings, draft electronic procedural documents during the pre-trial proceedings. It is proposed that these rules should simplify the process of recording and drafting procedural documents ensuring respect for the rights of parties to the investigation.
